Today we will bring awareness to the pelvic floor, a key component in lower back support. We’ll start with awareness, and also work to lengthen and strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is the area between the pubic and tailbone, and 2 sitz bones, at the very bottom of the pelvis. Essentially it is in the area of the genitals, perineum, and rectum, but internal to the body, meaning not on the surface. It is the area we’ve discussed as “opening” during deep belly breaths. Many people have difficulty accessing this area of the body. If you find it difficult to feel, or even think about this area of the body, come back to the video again tomorrow and keep trying. If focusing on this area of the body makes you emotional or uncomfortable, take a break and come back to it another time.
